The Crusades on BBC2

I may be a bit late for reporting this but I only found out myself earlier today. BBC2 is running a 3 part mini-series about the Crusades, examining the military confrontations between Christians and Muslims, starting tonight at 9:30pm.

"The age of the crusades began on a November morning in 1095, when Pope Urban II proclaimed a new holy war against Islam, to seize control of Jerusalem. His call to arms initiated a struggle between Christians an dMuslims that would rage fo rtwo centuries and leave a bitter legacy. In this compelling three-part series, Dr Thomas Asbridge utilises new research to tell the story. He starts with the epic journey of the first crusaders, marching 3000 miles to Jerusalem on their 'armed pilgrimage'. They inflicted appaling violence on their enemies - but, reveals Asbridge, they also endured far more than was realised before now." (from the telly paper 'Weekend').
